Youth taken into custody during high risk incident
LETHBRIDGE – A youth is in police custody, following a high-risk incident on the west side Friday morning, Feb. 16.
Around 8:30 a.m., police responded to a 911 call reporting a male with a handgun. They arrived at the scene to find a male youth had exited a residence in the 200 block of Mt. Crandell Cr. West and was carrying what appeared to be a handgun. Police noted that the youth indicated he was suicidal.
As a precaution, a nearby school was contacted.
Police say that they made contact with several people inside the home, who were uncooperative. A male youth was then arrested while trying to flee out the back of the residence with a rifle, which was later determined to be an air-gun.
