PRINCE ALBERT – Another game in the province of Saskatchewan, another loss for the Lethbridge Hurricanes. This one a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Prince Albert Raiders on Wednesday night (Dec. 13).

Unlike the previous evening in Saskatoon, the Hurricanes grabbed the game’s opening goal at 4:52 of the first period when Jake Elmer buried his 10th of the season.

The 1-0 lead for Lethbridge wouldn’t stand up for long, as Raiders forward Brett Leason tied the game up 1-1 just a few minutes later.

Then after an Igor Merezhko cross checking penalty, Prince Albert would strike on the power play, when Jordy Stallard gave the home side a 2-1 lead.

That’s how things would stand after the first period, with the Raiders also outshooting the Hurricanes 17-11.

At the 8:27 mark of the second period, the Hurricanes would tie things up at 2-2 thanks to Jake Elmer’s second goal of the game.

It looked like that would be the score after two, but with just 20 seconds remaining in the period Curtis Miske gave Prince Albert a 3-2 lead heading to the third period.

Shots after two periods were 27-22 in favour of the Raiders.

The ‘Canes pushed to tie the game in the third period, outshooting Prince Albert 8-5 which included a power play following a Carson Miller hooking penalty, but Raiders goalie Ian Scott stood tall.

Scott made 28 saves in the victory, while Hurricanes back-up Reece Klassen made 29 saves in the loss.

Lethbridge falls under .500, to 14-15-2 on the season, following the setback on Wednesday.

The Hurricanes road trip before the WHL Christmas break has two games remaining on it, against the Brandon Wheat Kings on Friday night and the Regina Pats on Saturday night.
