LETHBRIDGE –  It wasn’t a pretty game by any stretch of the imagination, as the Lethbridge Hurricanes were handed their sixth straight loss Saturday night at the hands of the Swift Current Broncos, on game one of a six game road trip.

The Broncos came out flying with Aleksi Heponiemi scoring the team’s first goal just 12 seconds into the first period with Tyler Steenbergen and Glen Gawdin netting goals at 15:01 and 15:23 respectively.

Reece Klassen was in net for the ‘Canes, giving Stuart Skinner a rare night off.

At the end of the frame the ‘Canes found themselves in a 3-0 hole, having given up 2 goals on 3 chances to the ‘Broncos power play.

Gawdin added his second goal of the night for the Broncos at 4:12 into the second period, making it 4-0 at the second intermission.

Despite outshooting the ‘Broncos 20-5 in the third period, Swift Current widened its lead, adding  two more goals from Edler at 1:18 of the period and  Steenbergen potting his second of the game less than 2 minutes later.

The ‘Canes managed 36 shots on net, but couldn’t put one past Swift Current’s Logan Flodell –  while the Broncos buried six of their 24 shots.

The ‘Canes are now 7-10-1-0 on the season. The team travels to BC to take on the Kelowna Rockets on Friday.
