Lethbridge Lightning sitting first in the RHL after a big weekend

LETHBRIDGE – The Lethbridge Lightning followed up their inaugural weekend in the Ranchland Hockey League with two straight wins, which has them 1st overall in the league.

The weather was cold and blustery on Friday (Nov. 3) but Captain Shay Wirll was red hot leading the Lightning past the Kainai Braves 9-2.

Wirll had three goals and three assists on the night, while James Price and Ben Bohle each netted a pair. Adam Gilmore, and Ashton Zintel had the other goals for the Lightning. Dalton Eaglebear and Cam Creighton scored for Kainai.

Fresh off their first win of the season on Friday night the Lethbridge Lightning had another convincing victory, a 9-3 victory over the Fort Macleod Mustangs on Saturday night (Nov. 4).

After trailing the Mustangs 2-0, the Lightning finally found their legs with Ben Bohle leading the charge with a three-goal performance.

Devery Edmons picked up a pair, while Cody Berube, Shane Eyre, Ashton Zintel and Taylor Bilodeau rounded out the scoring. Fort Macleod goals came from Ryan Caswell, Leo Lacourciere and Jadon Porterfield

The Lightning now enjoy a two-week rest as they prepare to host the Kainai Braves on Saturday Nov. 18 at 8:30 p.m. at the Nicholas Sheran Ice Centre.
