Southern Alberta Friday night football wrap-up

LETHBRIDGE – A handful of teams in Southern Alberta were in playoff action on Friday night, here’s a rundown of the action:

Tier II in Lethbridge

The Catholic Central Cougars defeated the Chinook Coyotes 38-7 on Friday night in the Tier II Region 1 semi-final to advance to the Region 1 Final. They’ll be taking on the Medicine Hat High School Mohawks on Friday, Nov. 3 at U of L Stadium and game time is 8 p.m.

Tier III in Cardston

The Cardston Cougars hammered the Winston Churchill Bulldogs 54-14 in Tier III play. Cardston advanced to provincials as Region 1B rep, and claimed the South Zone banner as no Region final will be played.

Tier IV in Taber

The W.R. Myers Rebels got a big 44-3 over the Pincher Creek Mustangs in Tier IV action to wrap up the action on Friday night. W.R. Myers has advanced to provincials where they will play at Claresholm Willow Creek next Friday for the South Zone banner. The winner will claim the 1A spot while the loser the 1B spot in provincials.

There was no Tier I game this week. The Region 1 final goes next Thursday as LCI visits Raymond.
