Charges laid after shotgun, cocaine seized in search

LETHBRIDGE – A 12-gauge shotgun and ammunition were among the items seized from  a Lethbridge home as part of a drug investigation.

ALERT says its organized crime and gang team searched a home on the 1200 block of 6 Ave. S. Thursday, Oct. 19. In addition to the gun and ammo, more than $4,800 in cash was seized, trafficking-related paraphernalia, and 330 g of cocaine. The drugs have a street value of $33,000.

The search was part of a joint investigation into drug trafficking dating back to earlier in the month, and involved Lethbridge Police and RCMP as well.

Franklin Rodriguez, 33, was scheduled to appear in court Friday, Oct. 20. He is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and knowingly possessing an unauthorized firearm.
