Health minister about to put the bite on Alberta dental fees

Aug 18, 2017 | 1:11 PM

EDMONTON – Alberta Health Minister Sarah Hoffman says she will look at what she calls extreme measures if the Alberta Dental Association and College doesn’t make dental services more affordable.

Her comment came soon after the college released the new Alberta dental fee guide yesterday, which includes recommended fees for specific procedures.

Some of them are nearly double those recommended in British Columbia, which the minister calls disappointing.

Hoffman says if the organization doesn’t come up with affordable fees, she will look at possibly separating the dental association from the regulatory college.
