DEL BONITA – Two huge pieces of machinery have been stolen from two work sites, hundreds of kilometres apart, on the same night.

Raymond RCMP say sometime between 8 pm and 10pm Friday April 21st, someone or some people went to a rural gravel pit just south of Del Bonita, near the U.S. border.

There, they drove a Caterpillar D-6 Bulldozer onto a waiting semi-tractor unit with a flat deck trailer and left with it.

Blackfalds RCMP near Red Deer also report, that sometime overnight between Friday April 21st and Saturday April 22nd, a Caterpillar 345CL Excavator from a work site near the intersection of Highway 2 and Highway 597 was also taken.

Police believe that it was loaded onto a waiting flat deck trailer towed by a semi truck about 200 yards north of the Blindman Bridge on Highway 2, and that an entire northbound lane would have been blocked at the time.

Investigators are hoping anyone with information on either one of the thefts will contact them or Crimestoppers immediately.
