New parks app puts Lethbridge parks, paths information in the palm of your hand

LETHBRIDGE – It’s now easier than ever to look up information on Lethbridge’s array of parks, playgrounds, paths and outdoor facilities while on the go.

In a media release Thursday (Apr. 13), the City of Lethbridge announced the launch of the first phase of its new parks app. It can be downloaded to any mobile device by searching “Lethbridge Parks” in the app store.

“Almost 60-per cent of residents who visit our website for parks information use a mobile device, so we believe moving to an app format will better meet their needs,” says David Ellis, parks manager.

Users will be able to navigate paths and trails, search for parks, playground and greenspaces by name or distance, and pull up information about spaces for recreational activities. Those who have GPS enabled on their mobile device will also have specific message about local parks pushed through to their screens.

But Ellis reminds residents that this is only the first phase, and that feedback is necessary to make the app and its features the best it can be.

You can provide comments through the app under setting, or by email to parks@lethbridge.ca. Residents that don’t own a mobile device can still find all the same information on the City of Lethbridge website.
