LETHBRIDGE – A suspicious vehicle fire in the city’s south side, and a house fire on the city’s north side, have kept Lethbridge fire crews busy this weekend.

Firefighters were called out to the 2900 block of 27th Avenue South around 11:15 Friday evening, after numerous 911 calls about a car on fire in the driveway of a home. By the time they got to the scene, the interior of the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. Investigators say the fire appears suspicious and they’re now working with police to determine a cause.

On Saturday, around 9:30 pm, several callers reported flames coming from a home in the 1500 block of 4th Avenue North. When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke billowing from the structure. The blaze was extinguished in under an hour. No one was injured and cause of the fire appears to be accidental.

Damage to the home is estimated to be around $100,000.
