City rolls out new photo initiative to help reunite owners with lost pets

LETHBRIDGE – The City of Lethbridge is rolling out a new initiative, in the hopes of re-uniting lost pets with their owners.

Those who have licensed pets, can now email a picture of their dog or cat to the city, so they can be attached to their licensing accounts.

Animal Control Officer Skylar Plourde says it’s another tool in their chest.

“We are excited to start receiving photos of all of our licensed dogs and cats. It is just one more way for us to identify los pets and return them home as soon as possible.”

He says the request is also a reminder for those who have not yet purchased licenses for their dogs and cats, making it difficult to find owners if they’re lost.

For those who want to send in a picture, they can go to http://regulatoryservices@lethbridge.ca or http://spd@lethbridgeanimalshelter.ca  with the following information:

  • JPEG of the pet
  • Account number (on the renewal invoice)
  • Name of the dog or cat
