Dec 4, 2016 | 9:40 AM

LETHBRIDGE – Volunteer sign up is now available online for the 2017 World Curling Championships being held at the ATB Centre from April 22 to 29.

The organizing committee is looking for as many as 250 volunteers for hosting, officiating, security and ice preparation.

“While there are some positions that take a certain level of experience most of our volunteers simply need a willingness to welcome the world to Lethbridge” says
event Co-chair Mike Mulroy.

These will be the first international championships staged at Lethbridge’s new ATB Centre and the second time that Canada has hosted the combined World Mixed Doubles and World Seniors.

The championships will be the final chance for countries to clinch a berth in the inaugural Olympic Mixed Doubles curling competition.

The discipline will make its debut as an Olympic medal sport at the 2018 Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea, with the host country guaranteed one of the eight available berths.

Anyone 18-years-of-age or over is welcome to volunteer.

Those wishing to volunteer can visit the Lethbridge Curling Club website at: http://www.lethbridgecurlingclub.com and click on the “volunteer now” link.
