Canes On A Roll With Win Over Calgary Hitmen

CALGARY – The Lethbridge Hurricanes extended their winning streak to 4 games with a 4-2 win over the Hitmen at the Scotiabank Saddledom inCalgary on Saturday (Nov. 26).

Approximately 10 minutes into the Hitmen’s Teddy Bear Toss game Tyler Wong dumped the puck into the net for his 14th goal of the season.

Like a flash the Canes’ Captain Wong scored just 22 seconds later, on a power play to give Lethbridge a 2-0 lead.

Going 2 for 2 in the power play, Giorgio Estephan brought the Canes to a 3-0 lead with less than three minutes remaining in the first period.

The Hitmen’s Micheal Zipp would come back to score one bringing the total score for the first period to 3-1.

The matchup quieted down over the second period, still, Wong shined as he completed a hat trick for the lone goal in the second, supported by Estephan and Colton Kroeker with the assists.

The Canes led 4-1 after 40 minutes of play but started the 3rd shorthanded.

The Hitmen would be able to sneak in one more goal for the game just two minutes into the third to cut the cut the Canes in half with a final score of 4-2.The Hurricanes went 2/6 on the power play while the Hitmen were 1/3.

The Canes are now at 11-11-1-2 in the standings. The team will be back on home ice Wednesday (Nov. 30) to face the Prince Albert Raiders.
