A Space Worth Getting Lost In – Lethbridge Cornmaze Open for the Season

LETHBRIDGE – The Lethbridge Cornmaze and Petting zoo is now open for its 17th season.

This year, the big maze is designed to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Toonie.

With 10 acres of corn, the farm also boasts a trivia maze, a children’s maze, a scavenger maze in the corn, a cow-train ride-along tour of the farm and a petting zoo.

Since 2000, the farm has used the maze to support four children from various countries through World Vision.

Theo Slingerland, Cornmaze Owner, said that the corn maze has allowed him and his family to give back to good causes and raise money for those less fortunate.

“Right from our beginning in 2000, we have been sponsoring four children each month from different continents through World Vision. This year, for our annual fundraiser on Thanksgiving Monday we will be donating money to New Beginnings, a women’s shelter in Baja California, Mexico.”

Slingerland said that his family was able to tour the women’s shelter in this past April and that he is happy to be helping support the shelter that was originally developed by an Albertan.

The maze and petting zoo are open from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday to Saturday in August.

In September and October, the maze will be open from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday until Oct 29.
